Calling All Pharmacies
The Turn It Purple Pharmacy of the Year Award 2021 is back and we are asking pharmacies to join us in Turning it Purple this November to raise vital awareness of pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month is in its 10th year. Back in 2011, the 5-year pancreatic cancer survival rate was just 3%. In 2021, this statistic has increased to 7.9%!
This November, we are asking pharmacies to take part in our Turn it Purple Pharmacy of the Year Award and be our Decade of Change. Our overall goal is to increase the 5-year pancreatic cancer survival rate to at least 13% by 2030.
Last year, we were not able to run the Pharmacy of the Year Awards due to Covid, so we are excited to be back this year with a bang.
At PCA our mission is to raise public awareness of pancreatic cancer symptoms across the healthcare and public sector, therefore improving early diagnosis and increasing survival rates.
Why should your pharmacy enter the awards?
We believe Pharmacies play an important role within the community and are well placed to spot the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer, therefore helping save lives.
Entering our Turn it Purple Pharmacy of the Year Award is an excellent way for pharmacies to engage with their team, patients and local community to raise much needed awareness of pancreatic cancer.
Every pharmacy who submits an entry for the award will receive a certificate of recognition to display in their pharmacy, as well as an opportunity to refresh their knowledge with the help of our FREE NPA accredited e-learning module for both Pharmacists and pharmacy teams.
How do we get started?
To get started, we are inviting pharmacies to order our FREE pharmacy packs which include information on our free e-learning module, key signs and symptoms, early indicators of the disease, as well as information on how to enter the award and our #PurpleHeart poster that can be placed in your windows or around the pharmacy.
This year we will be marking entrants across four main categories:
Awareness-
Helping us to raise vital awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer amongst the community and going above and beyond to ensure customers are more aware of the common risk factors and symptoms associated with pancreatic cancer.
Engagement-
Ensuring you are engaging with your local community, whether that’s through contacting your local media outlets or utilising community volunteers.
Fundraising-
From bake sales to awareness stands, there are loads of ways your pharmacy can help us to raise vital funds this November.
Social-
Making sure to shout about the work we do as a charity by tagging us in your fundraising efforts and making sure to hashtag #TurnItPurple and #PharmacyOfTheYearAward across your social channels and encouraging your customers to support along the way.
You can use this example marking criteria which will be used to evaluate your efforts and provides an indication of what we’ll be looking for this year.
