PCA ELECTION 2015 MANIFESTO: E-MAIL/LETTER TEMPLATE

Ahead of the general election 2015, our manifesto outlines key measures that if implemented could make a big difference in transforming outcomes for all those affected by a pancreatic cancer in the UK.

Please download our manifesto FINAL PCA General Election Manifesto and then send to your local MP and parliamentary candidates using our Write To Your MP website – http://write.pancreaticcanceraction.org/.

[I am living with pancreatic cancer/a friend or relative of someone who has/has had pancreatic cancer] and would like to meet with you to discuss Pancreatic Cancer Action’s general election manifesto, which is enclosed in this letter.

As a supporter of the charity, I believe that this manifesto sets out a number of proposals that could drive earlier diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

We are calling on the government to see the amount of research funding significantly increase, provide GPs with direct or improved access to CT scans to speed up diagnosis, carry out an audit and include pancreatic cancer in a national awareness campaign.

At just 4%, pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rate of all 21 common cancers.  This has barely changed in 40 years!

Late diagnosis is the reason why UK pancreatic cancer survival rates lag behind the majority of those in the EU.  Supporting primary care professionals in speeding up diagnosis is a vital element of driving survival rates up and we are calling on the next Government to help make this happen.

[Briefly tell your MP/parliamentary candidate about your personal story.  Keep this short, with two or three of the most important points.]

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you as my [MP/parliamentary candidate] at a convenient time before the election to discuss these issues further.  If you would be interested in a meeting, please could you contact me by phone on [add your phone number] or by emailing [add your email address]

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards,
