Ali Stunt, chief executive of Pancreatic Cancer Action, pays tribute to selfless campaigner Larry Rees

“We are extremely sad to hear that Larry passed away last night following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Larry’s wife, Jenny, his family and friends at this very sad time.
“As a oesophageal cancer survivor and a pancreatic cancer patient, he was an extraordinarily generous man who touched so many hearts with his selfless determination to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.
“He spoke out in many media appearances to campaign for better treatments and more funding for pancreatic cancer. This included an interview on ITV news and writing the blog Cancer is the best way to die? You couldn’t be more wrong.
“He didn’t hesitate to take part in our hard-hitting campaign to support our campaign reinstate a life-extending drug on the NHS.
“Larry was one of the nicest people that I have ever known, and he became a good friend and mentor to me. He will remain in the hearts of all of us at Pancreatic Cancer Action for all his support to help patients now and in the future.”
