Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most underfunded and under-researched cancers, and that has to change. I’m determined that Pancreatic Cancer Action will continue to put patients at the heart of everything we do, campaigning for earlier diagnosis, greater awareness, and better outcomes for everyone affected.

Pancreatic Cancer Action has appointed Paula Hanford as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Paula was appointed as Chief Executive Officer by the Board of Trustees and takes up her new position today, Monday 2nd March.

An experienced charity leader and Chief Executive, Paula brings a strong track record of substantially increasing income, organisational growth, strategic development, and impact delivery within the health sector. With more than three years of Chief Executive level experience, she led her previous organisation, PSC Support, through a period of significant transformation; strengthening services, expanding organisational capacity, and tripling income to support patients and families living with a complex health condition.

Paula intends to lead Pancreatic Cancer Action into its next stage of growth, strengthening its reach, influence, and sustainability, so that together, we can improve survival rates and deliver lasting change for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.

Giulio Codacci-Pisanelli, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “I am delighted Paula Hanford is joining us as Chief Executive Officer at Pancreatic Cancer Action. Paula has an impressive background and significant experience in increasing income and impact within the charity sector. We are very much looking forward to working with her and seeing the charity continue to grow and flourish under her leadership.”

Paula Hanford said: “Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most underfunded and under-researched cancers, and that has to change. I’m determined that Pancreatic Cancer Action will continue to put patients at the heart of everything we do, campaigning for earlier diagnosis, greater awareness, and better outcomes for everyone affected.”

The Pancreatic Cancer Action team, along with its nationwide supporters and the pancreatic cancer community, embark on this journey together, combining power and passion to beat pancreatic cancer once and for all.
