I have already had the privilege of meeting with many of PCA’s key stakeholders, including Trustees and members of the Senior Leadership Team, and these conversations have left a deep and lasting impression on me.
The passion, commitment, and clarity of purpose across the organisation is extraordinary, and they reflect a shared determination to achieve our mission: a world where pancreatic cancer is diagnosed early and patients receive the treatment and support they need to live long and healthy lives.
I approach this role with both excitement and a sense of urgency. Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most underfunded and under-researched cancers, with no widespread screening or early detection programme in place. Yet every day, 26 people in the UK lose their lives to this devastating disease. Action is not only necessary, it is urgent. It is needed now.
I begin this journey with hope and resolve. My firm belief is that, together, we can accelerate progress, drive innovation, and save lives. I look forward to meeting many of our partners and supporters in the weeks and months ahead, as we work collaboratively to identify and pursue new ways to strengthen our impact and expand our reach.
My experience spans over 25 years in the charitable sector, across a range of organisations. As Executive Director of St Mark’s Hospital Foundation, I worked alongside Trustees and stakeholders to transform the organisation in its fight against colorectal cancer, increasing our research footprint, educating healthcare professionals and the public, and fast-tracking innovative treatments for patients.
I was also Director of Income and Communications at the Honeypot Children’s Charity, where I led a strategic overhaul that significantly increased income and awareness levels, enabling the charity to reach far more young carers across the UK.
These experiences have taught me that vision must be matched by profile, funding, and urgency, and that meaningful change comes when all three align.
My ambition is to lead Pancreatic Cancer Action through a similar step change, in scale, in visibility, and in the lives we save.
With your support, I believe we can achieve an even greater impact together.
With sincere thanks,
Anthony
