“I am passionate about getting this cancer in the forefront of people’s minds”

Joe Suttill shares, in his own words, why he is taking action against pancreatic cancer for PCA

My name is Joe Suttill I am the big brother to William Suttill who is only 33 years old and in June 2018 got diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma of the tail of his pancreas.

His pancreatic cancer is inoperable, and I want to raise awareness and much needed money for research into this horrible disease. Will presented with symptoms very early on and was one of many patients who are diagnosed in the later stages of the disease.

I am representing PCA by running the Brighton marathon as I feel it’s important for individuals, communities and professionals to be educated and acknowledge this aggressive cancer so that much more can be done to prevent it.

We live in Newhaven which is 9 miles up the coast from Brighton, so naturally the marathon was an event that I’m more than happy to participate.

I hope that if there’s more awareness and research into PC it will really help in the early diagnosis, management and treatment of those suffering. This also means that patients and families can have quality care and have a greater chance of a longer life expectancy.

I am passionate about getting PC in the forefront of people’s minds. It has touched me and my family so much and I’ill continue to help in funding its research through events and fundraisers.

Good luck Joe, we are so grateful to receive your support and fundraising efforts. We can’t wait to cheer you on over the finish line in April 🙂
