Better Placed Recruitment

Better placed started to support PCA in 2016 when Kate Siegel’s mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Kate’s company Better Placed were extremely supportive and threw themselves into fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Action.

What have Better Placed been up to?

Better Placed have again in 2018 pulled out all the stops to support Pancreatic Cancer Action with a “turn it purple day” on November 15th. They baked, wore purple and even held two yoga sessions thanks to Urban Fitness. They have raised over £1,900 for us via their JustGiving page. A huge thank you.

In 2016, 34 employees took part in a mighty challenge to raise funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Action. The challenge, which they called ‘The Italian Job’, was a 24 hour static bike-a-thon covering the distance from the UK to Rome (2000km) in all three of the company’s offices: London, Manchester and Leeds raising over £6,000. Read more about this challenge here!

Kate has continued to provide us with her support by completing numerous fundraising activities with close friends and colleagues from Better Placed who have offices in London, Leeds and Manchester. Kate has taken part in the Santa 5k run in London, various cake baking activities and truffle hunting day trips as well as encouraging BPR to get involved and raise awareness where they can. Last year they ran a social competition across all three offices and managed to raise over £1000.

Sadly another member of the company lost a close member of their family to this awful disease which has only reinforced how much ongoing support the charity needs in order to raise money and awareness.

We can’t thank them enough for their continued support.

You can read more about Kate’s mums story here.

The charity was nominated by Danny Watts who lost his father to pancreatic cancer and who’s mother, Maggie Watts started the Hope Is Contagious Campaign which supports Pancreatic Cancer Action and another PC Charity.

To raise funds staff a Clugston Construction walked, golfed, held a plant sale, had dress down Fridays, baked lots of lovely cakes and held raffles, all in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action! Read all about their Golf Day here.

Pen Underwriting

We are thrilled to announce that Pen Underwriting have chosen us along with the Mental Health Foundation as their Charity of the Year for 2019.

The partnership came about through an approach by PCA to Pen as we share the same colours in our logo and branding, and they also have a local office in Bordon near where PCA are based. A member of their Charity Committee had also lost someone to the disease so knew about pancreatic cancer.

Pen are planning a packed year with lots of fundraising events. They have started with an online Brokers Survey (where they will donate a £1 for every survey completed), a Tea and Talk event with raffle prizes in March at their London Headquarters. They have also galvanised a team of employees to take on the JP Morgan 5K in July. Go Team Pen!

We can’t thank them enough for their commitment and PCA will be supporting and promoting all their events and achievements throughout the year.
