Friend of Kerry Harvey to organise a B&Q ‘Funday’ to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Action
Nikki Currums of Fakenham, with the help of the staff and management team, will be organising a B&Q Funday onWednesday 16th April at the B&Q store in Fakenham, Norfolk for Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Nikki hopes to raise hundreds by organising a ‘funday’ at her local B&Q. Nikki said: “I have decided to organise this event for Pancreatic Cancer Action because Kerry Harvey was a good friend of mine.” She goes on to say “I met Kerry while we were both student volunteers during our time at university and we remained friends for the following years. She amazed me all the way through her illness.”
Currently only 3% of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive beyond five years. Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer.
The event will be a day of fancy dress, raffles and treasure hunts alongside a very generous and brave colleague who will be shaving off his beard and long hair that he has been growing for 6 years.
Ali Stunt, Founder of Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “We are delighted that Nikki and the B&Q team are giving their time to support Pancreatic Cancer Action.
“As a charity, we rely on the generosity of people like Nikki to help us continue our vital work. If you are local to the area, please go along and back the team in their fundraising efforts so that we can continue research into early diagnosis and raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.”
