Book a talk

Quote from an employee at Iress in Cheltenham about the Pancreatic Cancer Aware talks.

It is estimated that by 2030 there will be over a million people of working age living with cancer. The importance of getting people in the workplace, and their employers, involved in learning about cancer is more important than ever.

Pancreatic cancer, in particular, needs to be highlighted more in the workplace. A recent survey commissioned by Pancreatic Cancer Action shows that, although almost 10,000 people are newly diagnosed with the disease each year in the UK, over 90% of the UK know little to nothing about pancreatic cancer!

This is why we are starting to go into peoples places of work and talk to them about pancreatic cancer.

Why should you book a talk?

We strongly believe that raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer is key to improving the survival rate because if diagnosed early, chances of survival improve significantly.

A cancer diagnosis can have a real effect on the whole organisation and present challenges, particularly to management teams. It is important that companies are prepared when it comes to support and to be proactive in raising awareness of cancer in the workplace to help improve early diagnosis.

We can arrange to come into your place of work and deliver an interactive and engaging session to help raise awareness of this devastating disease.

How long is the talk and who can come?

The talk usually last around an hour, allowing time for questions. However we can adjust the time to your specifications. There is no limit to how many people can attend,  however, we usually ask that there is a minimum of 30 people attending the talk.

Who will give the talk?

The founder and CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Action, Ali Stunt, will deliver the talk. As a rare ten-year survivor of pancreatic cancer, Ali can speak from personal experience.

Read more about Ali here.

What does the talk involve?

By creating an informal setting and encouraging questions, the talks are always interactive and engaging.

The following topics are generally covered, but we can tailor the talk to your specifications:

  • The importance of talking about cancer and pancreatic cancer in the workplace
  • How to help a colleague going though a cancer diagnosis
  • The signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer, including Ali’s own personal experience with the disease
  • The problems surrounding pancreatic cancer in the UK
  • How you can support Pancreatic Cancer Action

Every participant will also receive a pack with information to take away and some goodies too!

Is there a fee?

All we ask is that our travel expenses are paid and any donation at your discretion would be very gratefully received.
