Originally built to protect the power of the Ming dynasty, this section of wall lies to the north of Beijing, amongst the mountains that once stood between imperial China and the nomadic tribes that threatened it.

With over 10,000 steps and an endless procession of crumbling watchtowers to tackle, you will trek along the mountain ridges that straddle the spectacular Gubeikou Gateway.
