Tribute to Anthony Smith – an amazing man who inspired us all

Anthony with his Grandaughter Betsy

We are so very sad to hear that Anthony Smith, one of our inspiring supporters, has passed away from pancreatic cancer. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Anthony’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.

When Anthony first contacted Pancreatic Cancer Action in May last year about a challenge he was doing – 10,000 steps a day – I was immediately inspired by his story. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer but immediately he wanted to help raise awareness and funds for the disease – this shows just how selfless he was.

Anthony carried on to live an amazing 15 months full of memories with his friends and family. During this time he never stopped thinking about his next event and how he could continue to support PCA, we can’t thank him enough for how much time and effort he put in.

Anthony was truly an honourable man and I feel so privileged to have been able to know him and to promote his tireless fundraising efforts. I regularly spoke to him and he inspired me daily with his selflessness, dedication and positivity. His story will stay with me forever and he will never be forgotten.

We will miss speaking to Anthony and seeing his regular updates on Facebook about the fabulous holidays he was having.
