Supporters and Fundraisers news

Team PCA…what we have been up to this week!

Last week was very busy at PCA HQ! The team were out and about meeting supporters, regional reps, medical researchers, our patron Dr Hilary Jones and raising awareness amongst the general public!

Here is a quick re cap of what we have been up to…

Visit to Cancer Research Institute with regional rep Kelley Spacey

On Thursday our marketing executive, Lu, and regional rep for Oxfordshire, Kelley Spacey, went to The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton to meet one of our Early Diagnosis Challenge Award Researchers, Dr. Chiara Braconi.

During the visit Dr Braconi explained to us what research she was undertaking and how. Kelley even got to try out a few experiments of her own! She says:

It was amazing to see first hand the research funded by PCA and know exactly where all our fundraising money goes. It was so nice to meet a researcher face to face and see her passion and how much she cares. She isn’t just a researcher but a person who wants to make a difference in pancreatic cancer, just like me. It was an emotional day but so rewarding, a day I will never forget!

Tesco Collection

The admin team Lisl and Gemma and our fundraising marketing assistant Issy held a bucket collection at Tesco Haslemere on Thursday and were raising awareness of pancreatic cancer with information leaflets!

Thank you to everyone who donated and took information to share with their friends!

Meeting with PCA patron Dr Hilary Jones

On Friday Lu met with Dr Hilary Jones to discus his role as a patron and how he can help PCA as well as the importance of educating GP’s as well as the general public. Our meeting room was kindly offered by Tim Langford at Communcations International Group – thank you!

Fundraising Live Conference

Our fundraising manager Lucy attended the Fundraising Live Conference to learn and share effective fundraising ideas with other charities. One of the keynote speakers included Anthony Newman, Director of Brand, Marketing and Communications at Cancer Research UK talking about the best fundraising initiatives.
