After losing her mum to pancreatic cancer, Jo Bowen made a promise to raise as much awareness as she could. Since then, she’s held coffee mornings, square boards and even jumped out of a plane!

For her latest fundraiser, Jo decided to do something a little different by booking SOS Charity Fashion Show.

Jo’s fashion charity event

Jo says, “I wanted to do something different so a few months ago, I booked SOS CHARITY Fundraiser.  Basically you book them, they don’t charge for coming, and you supply some models. You make all your money on an entrance fee and raffle, plus refreshments. Generally you charge £4 per ticket but because I have never done this before and I live in a small village, I charged £2.

I sold roughly 50 tickets before the event so I knew I could warrant them coming all the way from Nottingham to let the event go ahead. I was blown away with the support. Roughly 120/130 people attended and it was an amazing night!

It was fantastic to also have help from my sister, hubby, kids and some friends. We raised a total of £423.53!

Everyone was saying we should do it again as lots of people got some good bargains as well. The clothes were fab and the ladies who ran the event were amazing!

If you’re thinking of doing your own event then this is a fantastic one! I live a couple of hours from Nottingham and that they were willing to travel just shows how fabulous they are!”

The SOS Charity Fashion Show is a free service that provides a whole host of high street fashion brands at discounted prices.

The service is based in Nottingham but operates across the East Midlands. There is no deposit involved and they even provide free vouches for your raffle.
