North East England Awareness Campaign

Following the success of our East End of Glasgow Awareness Week, this November we're bringing our next symptom awareness campaign to North East England – specifically Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.

In a recent survey, over 75% of respondents living in North East England could not name a single symptom of pancreatic cancer. With only 10% of patients currently being diagnosed in time for life-saving surgery in the UK, early diagnosis is crucial for improving survival rates.

Knowing the symptoms is essential.

This critical lack of awareness needs to change and that’s why we’re heading to North East England!

November is also national Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, so what better time to double-down on our efforts and try to reach as many people as possible and save lives.

Throughout November, we are distributing 50,000 pharmacy bags through 50 pharmacies and 8,000 coffee cups through 8 cafes, all raising awareness of the symptoms of pancreatic cancer. Additionally, we will have 48 washroom panels displayed in 8 pub restrooms, also raising awareness of the symptoms of pancreatic cancer.

If that wasn’t enough, we will be displaying our new #MISSEDmoments campaign throughout the Tyne and Wear Metro. With around 37 million passengers a year, this presents the perfect opportunity to raise awareness!

We are also excited to be hosting an awareness stand at the Metrocentre on Sunday 24th November 2024, hosted by one of our loyal volunteers. You’ll find us in ‘The Gallery’ from 11am – 5pm. Please pop along, we’d love to meet you!

We will also be sharing incredible stories through media outlets and investing in targeted social media ads for the general public and healthcare professionals in these areas. In doing so, we are driving traffic to our website, which is crucial for promoting the work that we do and providing potentially life-saving health information.

But what can you do?

We would love to support you to host an awareness activity of your own! This could be an awareness stand in your local community, distribution of our leaflets or host an awareness talk. If this sounds like something you can do, we want to hear from you!

We couldn’t fund these awareness campaigns without your generous donations.

Donate now so we can bring awareness campaigns near you!
