National Payroll Week
Did you know that payroll contributes £418 million to the UK economy through the collection of Tax and National Insurance?
This week is National Payroll Week which recognises and celebrates not only the impact of payroll on business, but also the contribution that payroll makes to the UK economy.
National Payroll Week is the perfect time to consider whether you are making the most of your payroll and if Payroll Giving may be something you are interested in.
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to give regularly and on a tax-free basis to Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so each £1 you give will only cost you 80p and, if you’re a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p.
Why get involved?
Payroll Giving is completely unique to you as there is no upper or lower limit on the amount you can give. It is an easy, valuable, long term way to donate that can be taken straight from your payslip. You are not tied into a contract so you can stop payroll giving at any time if you wish to.
We will receive tax-relief so you will be giving more money to the charity at no extra cost to you. For example, if you chose to donate £4 we will receive £5.
What are the benefits over just donating?
Payroll Giving is taken straight from your gross (pre-tax) pay so there is no need for the charity you choose to physically claim the tax back through Gift Aid from HM Revenue & Customs, this saves them money in administration. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, Payroll Giving is the only way that a charity can automatically receive all your tax on your charitable donation.
