Lasweek, was delighted to meet fifty or so new Associates at Lockton’s UK head office in Central London during their induction to the company.

As Pancreatic Cancer Action is Lockton’s charity of the year for 2013, this was a great opportunity to tell them about the disease and its symptoms, as well as the different ways that they could get involved in fundraising.

The majority of new employees had never heard of pancreatic cancer, which isn’t surprising given that over 50% of pancreatic cancer sufferers we surveyed last year had never heard of it until they were diagnosed with it.  Lockton do in fact have a connection to the disease as Jack Lockton, who founded the insurance broker in 1966, sadly died of pancreatic cancer in 2004 and the wife of a current Lockton Associate is currently fighting the disease.

We are extremely grateful to Lockton for working with us.  They are very proactive with their fundraising efforts ranging from individual fundraisers or company teams participating in challenging events such as BUPA London 10K and Nightrider, down to smaller fun events such as purple days and cake sales.of a current Lockton Associate is currently fighting the disease.

Since 2009, Lockton Associates in the UK have raised more than £350,000 for four other charity partners: Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support, Alzheimers Society and Whizz-Kidz.

We are of course are grateful to all those who fundraise for us and really value our corporate partners.  if you would like to get involved, or nominate Pancreatic Cancer Action to be your company’s charity of the year,  please visit https://pancreaticcanceraction.org/support-us/fundraise/ or call us on 0303 040 1770.
