Lauren’s Couch to 5k challenge: Week 2

After triumphing week one of my couch to 5k challenge, I was super excited to start week-two. Feeling like Rocky running up those huge steps to that iconic music from the movie. That’s how it started, confidence sweating out of me as I focused on my Deep House playlist.

It wasn’t long until this awesome feeling drained when I reached the half way point of my first run. I started feeling sick, as if I were about to keel over and take a nap under the nearest bush. At this point, all I could imagine was Professor Lupin from Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban saying “Have some chocolate, it makes everything better” and right as I was about to give up and walk, Laura (my guide on the app) said, “it’s time to slow down, take a brisk walk to recover from your run”… OH THANK THE LORD!

Onward I went and after my two minute walk, I cracked on with the next 90 second run – “you can do this” I told myself and you know what? I completed the run!

Two runs later and I’ve completed week two and the halfway point of each run doesn’t make me feel sick anymore – this is definitely a sign of progress and I’m actually excited about heading in to week three!

Watch this space everyone – future marathon winner in the making (…maybe… we’ll see)
