Tips for pharmacies Turning it Purple!
November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month which means it’s time to Turn it Purple™! We might only be in the first week of November but over 120 pharmacies have already ordered their free Turn it Purple packs and started filling their pharmacies with banners, bunting and posters to show their support!
The bar has already been set high for the Turn it Purple Pharmacy of the Year Award, so we thought we would share some top tips on how to Turn it Purple in your pharmacy! From purple wigs to sweet purple treats, we have a range of ideas to help motivate you and the team to raise awareness this month!
Decorate your pharmacy purple!
What better way to make a splash than decorating your whole pharmacy purple with banners, balloons and poster. You can use the materials in your Turn it Purple pack and download more here.

Wear it Purple day
You can wear purple for the whole month of November or just one purple item to help create discussion and raise awareness. Some people paint their nails purple for the month or even colour their hair purple! This will really get customers and patients talking! We have purple wigs on our shop (click here) or you can visit eBay or Amazon.
If you don’t quite fancy a whole month of wearing purple, then why not hold a Wear It Purple day instead and hold a competition for best dressed. You can also have a competition to see who can wear the most shades of purple!
Good days to wear purple and have a purple hair day are 1st November to mark the start of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and 15th November which is World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
Fundraise and help us reach our Turn it Purple 10K target!
Our goal is to raise £10,000 this November to help us continue supporting our researchers in their vital work and research in fighting back against pancreatic cancer. You can have a collection box by your till, or why not set up a raffle and ask local business to donate prizes? You can get the whole community involved!

Bake it purple
Who doesn’t love cake?! So why not have a bake sale and Bake It Purple! This can help raise awareness and funds! If you’re stuck for ideas on what to make, we have some recipe ideas for you here. Raise awareness on social media by using our Twibbon on your Twitter and Facebook profile. Simply click ‘Update Profile Picture’, ‘Add frame’ and search Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month!
Take photos and videos of all the Turn it Purple action and share it with us so we can support you!

Pancreatic cancer suffers from a chronic lack of awareness across the UK. We need greater awareness of the disease and its symptoms to ensure that more people are diagnosed in time for surgery, which is currently the only cure. By taking part in Turn it Purple during November, you are helping us raise vital awareness to improve early diagnosis. Thank you for taking action against pancreatic cancer!
Anyone in the pharmacy can take part, whether it’s decorating your pharmacy or organising an information awareness day! It’s a great opportunity to brighten up your customers day, as well as educating them about the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.
