How to Raise Awareness of Pancreatic Cancer From Home

Raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer is one of the most important factors in improving the survival rate of the disease. Unfortunately, due to widespread outbreak of COVID-19 and the series of nationwide lockdowns, many of our usual methods have had to be put on hold.

In order to overcome this, we’ve made changes to a number of our materials and services, making it easier than ever to raise awareness online and within Government guidelines.

Raising awareness of pancreatic cancer

Here’s some of the best ways you can raise awareness of pancreatic cancer from the comfort of your own home:

Spread the word on Social Media

Social media is one of the easiest and most effective ways of raising awareness. Just a single post can easily reach thousands of people and it’s completely free! Here’s a couple of ways you can help:

Share our symptoms posts

unexpected weight lossYou have probably seen us posting the different symptoms of pancreatic cancer across our platforms. Just by simply sharing these posts, you could reach people in your friends list that may have never seen them before, potentially saving their life.

Interact with us

It may sound simple but just by liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts, more people can be reached and discover the work we do and the services we provide at PCA.

Make sure to follow all our pages!

Don’t miss any of our updates or activities by following us on Facebook, Twitter,  Instagram and LinkedIn – Make sure your friends and family are too!

Share our awareness information

We have a whole host of awareness materials, including posters, guides, and leaflets, all of which can be downloaded or ordered for free.

Download and share

We have made all our awareness information free to download, making them easy to print off, share on your company’s intranet, or email to friends, family, and colleagues.

Order them for free

If you would prefer physical copies, to keep at home or hand out to friends and family when safe to do so, they can all be ordered for free on our website.

Order our free patient information booklets

If you know someone that has been affected by pancreatic cancer, make sure to let them know about our patient information booklets or order some on their behalf.

Created by pancreatic cancer patients and healthcare professionals, they contain the most up to date information available and cover all aspects of the patient’s journey, from discovering what pancreatic cancer is, to undergoing chemotherapy or preparing plans for end of life care.

Order our GP or Pharmacy Packs

If you have a good relationship with your local GP practice, hospital, or pharmacy, make sure to let them know about our free resource packs. They contain all the information needed to refresh their knowledge and put them in a better position should they encounter someone displaying any of the symptoms.

Our packs are free to order and can be posted directly to your local practice or pharmacy, or delivered during one of your appointments. Please ensure that you follow the necessary COVID guidelines and only visit them if safe to do so.

Share your story

One of the most amazing ways you can raise awareness is by sharing your own experiences with pancreatic cancer. This can be as a patient, carer, healthcare professional, or if you just know someone with the disease.

Not only is sharing your story an effective way of warning others of the signs and symptoms of the disease, but it’s also a powerful way to remind others that they are not alone in their journey.
