Hold an awareness stand in your local community
Izzy Fletcher, our community fundraiser, talks about how and why raising vital funds and awareness in the community is so important to her and to all of us here at PCA!
A big part of being the Community Fundraiser for PCA is actually getting out there in the community and meeting people face to face! Having lost a family member to the disease a few years ago and experiencing first hand the terrible effects it has on families; I am determined to make a real difference.
A recent survey by PCA revealed that 92% of people in the UK don’t know a lot about pancreatic cancer and that’s why we’re on a mission to change these statistics, take action and raise the profile of pancreatic cancer among the public and healthcare professionals.
Recently, I’ve been out and about in our local community holding awareness and fundraising stands, talking to members of the public about pancreatic cancer as well as the work we do at PCA.
Awareness stands are really easy to set up and are a great way to start a conversation about the signs and symptoms of the disease and the facts and risks that surround it. I have found that many people who approach the stand are happy to take a leaflet, have a chat and sometimes contribute a small donation.
