Gibraltar Turns It Purple for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month!
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month is a time where the whole world unites to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer. Louis Baldachino, who lives in Gibraltar, was on a mission this November to make the people of Gibraltar aware of pancreatic cancer.
Louis arranged the famous Gibraltar landmark ‘The Moorish Castle’ to light up purple for four days. The landmark is a medieval fortification comprising various buildings, gates, and fortified walls and can be seen around the whole of Gibraltar. He also encouraged local shops, restaurants and pharmacies to join the Turn It Purple campaign with great success.
Louis says: “I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2015, I know how lucky I was for the disease to be diagnosed just in good time ‘to still be here’ and fighting. I felt that a right thing to do was to try and promote awareness to the general public, GP’s and medical institutes in Gibraltar, of symptoms that could possible be related to this type of cancer.“
We would like to say a huge thank you to Louis and all the businesses that took part!
