Family fun day this weekend in memory of postman Shaun Wright

AN INSPIRING mother and daughter team, Becky and Lucia Wright, are on a mission to raise thousands for a cancer charity this weekend in memory of much-loved Cleethorpes postman Shaun Wright.

Shaun, who was husband to Becky and father to ten-year-old Lucia Wright, passed away at the age of 47 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Determined to raise both money and awareness of the devastating disease, Becky launched The Shaun Wright Foundation in his memory, which has since generated a staggering £18,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action.

And the mother and daughter duo want to raise even more when they hold a family fun day on Sunday at noon at the Linden Homes Club.

Becky, 43, said the family have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from both friends and complete strangers since Shaun’s untimely death last year.

“It is really nice to do something that keeps you busy but also raises money and awareness for sufferers of pancreatic cancer. It’s quite humbling,” she said.

“What has amazed me is the amount of people, some who are complete strangers, who have ran marathons and done things like Tough Mudder in his memory.

“It is such a great charity but they are not widely known. They offer so much support.”
