Clugston Construction Charity Golf Day in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action
Clugston Construction, a well-established organisation with a leading reputation in construction, civil engineering, logistics, property development and facilities management held a charity golf day in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action on the 12th September 2017.
The construction company have chosen Pancreatic Cancer Action, who raise awareness of the signs and
symptoms of pancreatic cancer, as their charity partner of the year. An employee that works for the company lost his dad to the disease and has done a lot of fundraising for the charity over the past years.
The Golf day was their first fundraising event for the charity and it was held at Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort which raised a fantastic amount of £2,269.
Claire Bailey, the Marketing Services Officer says, “Each year we ask our staff to nominate a charity that the Company will support during the year, this year Pancreatic Cancer Action has been chosen.”
“The nomination was made by Danny Watts whose dad Kevin died of pancreatic cancer in 2009. We look forward to raising funds as well as helping raise awareness of the charity.”
Pancreatic cancer is the UK’s 5th biggest cancer killer. The survival rate is just 5% which is the lowest of any cancer.
Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer. The charity fund research into early diagnosis, provide medical education programmes, and launch awareness campaigns.
