2020 marks the 10th anniversary since I founded Pancreatic Cancer Action and in those humble days, 10 years ago, working alone in the back bedroom of my home, I could only dream that PCA would become the organisation that it has today.

We’ve come a long way, helped by a wide community of passionate supporters, and we have seen the survival rate change from 3% to nearly 7% in the past 10 years. However, this is not enough and so much more needs to be done.

I am excited to share some incredible news with you: today we announce our intention to merge with the charity Pancreatic Cancer Scotland (PCS).

We will be a strong, confident charity that will drive positive change to help save more lives in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

2020 also marks the 10th anniversary of PCS and reflecting on the past decade we are incredibly proud of our work and what we have both achieved. Looking to the future we want to make the 2020’s The Decade of Change for Pancreatic Cancer. By taking action together, we both know we can make greater strides in making this vision a reality.

My ambition remains the same, as it did 10 years ago, that more people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer sooner, in time for surgery to be possible. This is what happened to me, but it was more a matter of luck and circumstance that afforded me the early diagnosis and, once understanding the statistics of this disease, I discovered that chance isn’t something one can rely on to get diagnosed early.

I hope you can join us to make the 2020’s the Decade for Change for Pancreatic Cancer. A decade where we will see early diagnosis and the quality of care and treatments for patients to be better than ever.

Thank you so much for all your support, we couldn’t do our work without you!

We will update you in our next e-newsletter on our progress, however, please see below for more information and for our contact details should you have any further questions.

Yours sincerely,
