A NIGHT OF MUSIC AND DANCE IN AID OF ACTION4NOEL AND PCRF

pca action 4 noelKerry Irvine and Susan Cooke from Omagh are holding a night of music and dance on 19th February at the Civic Centre, Lisburn to raise funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Action – Action4Noel and the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. The event, which promises a fantastic bill of performers kicks off, at 7.30pm and runs until 10.00pm.

Kerry and Susan both tragically lost their husbands after short battles
with pancreatic cancer. They have since sought to raise awareness and funds PCRFto help support families affected by the disease, including running a support group together. As well as this Kerry is a regional representative in Northern Ireland for Pancreatic Cancer Action and Susan is the representative for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Kerry created the fund Action4Noel in memory of her
husband Noel. Kerry says: “It’s the memories of Noel’s strength, courage, love of life and love for his family and friends that gives me the to continue the fight against Pancreatic Cancer in HIS name”.

She further explains: “Before Noel’s diagnosis in April 2011, I didn’t really know anything about pancreatic cancer. Now I know that it has a shockingly low survival rate, and only receives 1% of research spend despite being the fifth leading cause of cancer death in UK. Action 4 Noel will hopefully make more people aware.”

Driving earlier diagnosis and improving treatment for patients is a goal Kerry shares with Susan. Both ladies hope that a night of fantastic entertainment will raise crucial funds and appreciation of the disease.

The night is guaranteed to entertain with musical performances from Grainne O’Neil, who sadly lost her mother to pancreatic cancer, and Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School Choir. Community choir ‘Sing for life’ – which provides the opportunity for people affected by cancer to meet and support each other – will also be taking to the stage!

Adding to the entertainment will be The Reid McKernan Irish Dance School and Kerry and Noel’s daughter, Ellie, will be dancing. Ali Stunt, founder and CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Action, will also be attending the event.
