Gemma Brown

Operations Manager and EA to CEO

Your role and responsibilities

I head up the ‘behind the scenes’ type work, making sure that the team has everything they need to carry out their invaluable work and am always looking at new ideas and more efficient ways to do things. A big part of my role is the HR function, which I really enjoy. I have a particular passion for the importance of wellbeing and personal development. I have implemented training Tuesdays, wellness Wednesdays and no meeting Thursdays. I am very much looking forward to shortly becoming an accredited Mental Health First Aider, so that I can support the team further. I also provide executive assistance to Ali Stunt, the Founder and CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Action managing her diary, looking for speaking opportunities and arranging all travel logistics for conferences and events which she is part of. In addition to my role as Operations Manager and EA to CEO, I am also the Company Secretary.

Describe yourself in 5 words

Dedicated, empathetic, respectful, dependable and organised

Why did you pick to work at PCA?

Having worked as an Events Manager for over 10 years, I was very excited for my career to take a change in direction to the not-for-profit sector and join the wonderful PCA team in March 2016. I am so proud to work for a charity like this who are taking action to drive early diagnosis and awareness and in turn improve survival rates. I have a passion for organisation and wellbeing, so this role suits me perfectly!

What are your hobbies and interests?

At the weekend, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young children. When I have some child free time, I love trawling Pinterest etc for house organisation and décor ideas and cleaning hacks or going for long walks and talks with my friends.
