Living with a serious disease such as pancreatic cancer is not easy. Some people find they need help coping with the emotional and practical aspects of their disease. Most Pancreatic Cancer Specialist Centres have specialist nurses who will be able to answer many of your questions and lend some support and advice.
In addition to the NHS services support groups can help, allowing patients and carers to share experiences and solutions. In these groups, patients or their family members get together to share what they have learned about coping with their disease and the effects of treatment. Ask your specialist nurse if there is a group near you. Because pancreatic cancer is a less common cancer, support groups may include people with other gastrointestinal cancers as well.
Unfortunately, we at Pancreatic Cancer Action are not equipped to offer comprehensive support to patients, carers and families. There are though, other organisations who may be able to help. Follow this link to find out more.
Alternatively discuss any issues with your specialist nurse who will have insight and experience of the issues that might affect you.
