What stands in the way of patients taking part in clinical trials?

The Surrey, W.Sussex & Hampshire Cancer Partnership Research Group (SWSH CPRG)

announces this research event, which is designed to answer questions the public may have

about cancer clinical research in their community including:

 

  • How do patients decide whether or not to enter trials?
  • What is industry’s perspective on the barriers to patient participation?
  • Can clinicians predict which trials will recruit patients?

 

Addressing these issues and others, there will be a multi-disciplinary range of speakers including

local specialist Consultant Dr Gary Middleton, Medical Oncologist and Clinical Lead for Research

at the Surrey, W.Sussex & Hampshire Cancer Research Network. Other speakers will be Dr

Norma Morris from University College, London and Alun Pinnegar from Novartis. Patients who

have been invited to take part in a trial will also talk about their own personal experiences.

Mr Simon Butler-Manuel, Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology at RSCH will chair the event.

 

The evening is open to all members of the public as well as health care professionals.
